Trained volunteers and advocates provide this service. A referral network composted of 27 service organizations within the National Capital Region has been established to share resources and expertise and to develop a protocol that will ensure gender-sensitive responses to VAW cases.

Training and Education Institute for Family Violence Prevention (TEIFVP)

The TEIFVP is the training arm of WCC that evolved from its education and training program. It was formerly named after WCC’s executive director who introduced feminist counseling in the Philippines. TEIFVP supports the training needs of staff and survivors as well as of other service providers and advocates of violence prevention. Using strategies of feminist education, TEIFVP offers workshops on Feminist Approaches to crisis intervention, setting up and managing crisis centers for survivors of VAW, and related subjects.

National Network for Family Violence Prevention Programs (NNFVPP)

WCC is the convener of this partnership of 48 women’s organizations serving urban, rural, and indigenous communities within Metro Manila and in different sites of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Its projects include addressing violence against women, family violence, gender-fair education programs, peer advocacy, programs for men and adolescent boys, knowledge management, and feminist education.

The services include emotional support and feminist counselling, referrals for health and medical needs, legal assistance, shelter and other support services. Through telephone, face-to-face, or group counselling, survivors are assisted through affirmation of their own worth and in their struggle to deal with emotions such as fear, shame, self-denial, guilt, and self-blame. Information is provided to help survivors make informed choices in order that they may regain control over their lives.
